Egans Electrical — Brisbane and Surrounds

Terms of Service

Last updated 2026

About these terms

These terms apply to all electrical work, quotes and services supplied by Egans Electrical (ABN 48 694 589 243), operated by Michael Egan and holding Queensland Electrical Contractor Licence 1510707. By accepting a quote or asking us to attend, you agree to them. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Quotes

Quotes are an estimate of the work described and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless noted. A quote assumes normal site access and conditions. If we find hidden or unforeseen conditions, such as non-compliant existing wiring, asbestos or concealed damage, we will explain what we found and the cost impact before doing any extra work.

Variations

Any change to the agreed scope is a variation. We will confirm the variation and its price with you before proceeding, and it forms part of the job once you approve it.

Payment

Unless your quote says otherwise, small jobs are payable on completion and larger jobs may require a deposit and progress payments, as set out in the quote. Invoices are payable within the terms shown on the invoice. We may charge interest on overdue amounts and recover reasonable collection costs. Title to supplied materials stays with us until paid in full.

Site access and your responsibilities

Please make sure we have safe, clear access to the work area, switchboard and any relevant plans. You must tell us about known hazards, including asbestos, and ensure the person who engaged us has authority to approve the work (owners, or the body corporate or managing agent where required). Power will usually need to be isolated during work and we will give notice where practical.

Licensing, compliance and certificates

All work is carried out by licensed electrical workers in line with the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (Qld), the Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000) and relevant standards. Where required, we provide a Certificate of Testing and Compliance. We may decline or stop work that cannot be done safely or lawfully, and will explain why.

Workmanship and warranty

We stand behind our workmanship and will return to correct defective work reported to us within a reasonable time. Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied products, and we will help you make a claim. Warranty does not cover damage from misuse, modification by others, power surges, normal wear or faults in unrelated existing installations.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We may charge a reasonable fee for short-notice cancellations or if we cannot access the site, to cover time and costs already committed. Materials specially ordered for your job may not be refundable.

Emergency and after-hours work

After-hours and emergency call-outs may attract a higher call-out rate, which we will confirm before attending where possible.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee is limited, at our choice, to re-supplying the services or paying the cost of having them re-supplied. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, except where the law does not allow us to exclude it. We hold public liability insurance for our work.

Disputes

If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it quickly. If we cannot, you may contact the Queensland Building and Construction Commission or Electrical Safety Office, or seek independent advice.

Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time and the version on this page applies to new quotes. These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
